Bank Holidays for Leicestershire County Council staff

For all bank holidays you are entitled to 1/5th of your weekly working hours. This means that in a week where a bank holiday falls, you should be working 4/5th’s of your normal weekly hours. How these hours are worked should be arranged between yourself and your line manager. This applies to both full-time and part-time employees.

No adjustments should be made to your annual leave allowance in relation to bank holidays unless you have been on maternity or long term sick, where you can make an adjustment to claim back the hours for any bank holidays which fell during the period. If you need guidance on adding the adjustment please look at the guidance here.

If you work part time, or compressed hours, please use the Bank Holiday Calculator to work out your entitlement for the year. Once this has been worked out this should then be added as a positive or negative adjustment to your annual leave balance. If you need guidance on adding the adjustment please look at the guidance here.

Once the adjustment has been added, you should take off all bank holidays without making any other changes to your annual leave entitlement.

Any colleagues who work full time do not need to make adjustments in relation to bank holidays.
