Emergency Payments Information

Modified on Tue, 8 Nov, 2022 at 11:12 AM

If something goes wrong with your pay and you are either missing all of your pay or a significant amount, we are able to make an emergency payment to you that has not been processed through the payroll system.

If this happens, we will estimate the pay due to you and arrange a payment immediately.  If we arrange a sameday payment for you, the amount will appear in your bank account mid-afternoon. Your correct salary will then be processed in the next months’ pay cycle.  This means that two months’ pay or the next months’ pay and your extra payments due will be processed together and the amount you received on (or close to) pay day as an emergency payment the previous month will show as a deduction on your payslip described as ‘BACS Payment Recovery’ (see example below)

This is because the system will process all pay due in the following month but you will have been paid some of that money already.

Some common reasons for missing pay:-

  • Your manager has missed the deadline
  • There is some paperwork missing from your new starter checklist
  • Additional payments have not processed correctly or been approved in time
  • Hours of work have been entered incorrectly

EMERGENCY PAYMENT DUE TO MISSING OR INCORRECT BANK DETAILS

This is slightly different as your pay will have processed through the payroll but something has gone wrong with your bank details.  Therefore, you will have a payslip and you will be sent your salary by an emergency payment.  If you have made a mistake on your bank details there may be a delay whilst we ensure the money is returned from the bank before we can re-issue your salary payment.
