Between 1st and 7th June inclusive, employees and managers will not be able to enter, amend or remove absences related to Sickness or Family leave (Maternity, Adoption, Paternity, and Shared Parental Leave) using self-service in Oracle Fusion. However, Annual Leave, along with Emergency, Bereavement and other types of planned leave can continue to be requested as usual.
To ensure a smooth transition, EMSS recommend managers keep absence records up to date before the downtime. It's important to note that absences logged before the freeze will continue to process as normal afterwards and any absence reported to managers during downtime should be submitted to Oracle before the payroll deadline (10th June 2024) to ensure it impacts June pay.
This downtime is crucial for enhancing Oracle's absence processing functionality and will not result in any significant changes to the front-end user interface.
FAQs
When will the downtime happen?
Between Saturday 1st June and Friday 7th June (inclusive), employees and managers will not be able to record, update or end Sickness or Family leave absences using self-service in Oracle Fusion.
Which types of leave will this impact?
Sickness, Maternity, Adoption, Paternity, Shared Parental Leave and Unpaid Leave will be the only absence types impacted by this downtime.
What types of leave can I continue to input?
Annual leave, Emergency, Bereavement, and other types of planned and paid leave are not included and can continue to be requested, amended, and approved as normal during the freeze period.
Is there anything that I need to do in advance of the downtime?
EMSS advise Managers to ensure that absence records are as up-to-date as possible prior to the freeze. This means that if your colleague has any planned leave during the downtime period, you should add this to their record as soon as possible.
Will I still be able to access the Absence section of Oracle during the downtime?
During the downtime, you will still be able to view absences. You will also be able to input leave types that are not impacted, but you won’t be able to add, edit or remove Sickness/Family Leave.
Is there any action for me to take after the downtime?
No, your access will be restored automatically. When the downtime period is complete, absences logged prior to it will continue to process as normal.
Will this impact long-term or ongoing Sickness or Family Leave?
No, it is not necessary to end ongoing absences prior to the downtime and restart them afterwards.
Why is EMSS implementing Absence downtime in Oracle Fusion?
The reason for the downtime is to implement an upgrade in seeded Oracle absence processing functionality. There should not be any changes to the user interface or method of logging absences following the freeze.
