Annual Leave Following Maternity or Parental Leave

Before Maternity/Adoption/Parental Leave

Before starting your maternity/adoption leave you should discuss and plan an agreed approach with your manager on how you intend to use your annual leave and record these dates in the HR Self Service System.

Employees are encouraged to take any outstanding annual leave they have accrued but not yet taken before starting their maternity leave, adoption leave or shared parental leave.

Accruing Leave during Maternity/Adoption/Parental Leave

You will continue to accrue your basic entitlement to annual leave and public holidays during any period of ordinary or additional maternity leave or adoption leave.

You may carry over ten days annual holiday entitlement either in the year you go on leave or the year that you return (pro-rated to 2 working weeks for part-time colleagues). In limited circumstances where it would be difficult for you to take your annual leave entitlement outside of the maternity leave period then additional carry over of contractual leave can be considered on a case-by-case basis by management and HR.

Oracle will only carry over up to one week automatically so anything above this will need to be added to your entitlement by a positive adjustment.

Public Holidays

Public holidays that fall during ordinary and additional maternity/adoption leave will be totalled and added to your holiday entitlement when you return to work.
